Abstract Cancer is one of the leading causes morbidity and mortality. Imaging studies are central to initial staging follow-up management cancers. In past, oncologists have largely relied on anatomical imaging for staging, restaging, therapy monitoring. The introduction positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) its availability has transformed practice cancer imaging. PET-CT an technique that provides complementary information by CT or magnetic resonance alone as it incorporates functional anatomic information. It actually embeds tumor biology image. There significant contributions component in adding value strength PET-CT. useful particularly detection distant metastases, assessing response recurrence. Its utility restaging cancers now well established. role varies across different primary sites. To cover all types neither intention nor feasible a single article. this article, attempt will be made highlight generic concepts post-therapy some common malignancies. pitfalls limitations also discussed.
